Outline

A three day course to be trained as a rock climbing instructor. The first day will include a day at a commercial rock climbing wall.

Description

This award is all about supervising safe climbing and abseiling sessions on single pitch crags. Whether you're a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor centre instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor Award has been designed to maintain high standards of supervision so that people can enjoy safe sessions in this increasingly popular sport.

Outcomes

This course will enable you to:

~ This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls.

~ Common activities undertaken by an Rock Climbing Instructor will be:-

~ Roped climbing

~ Abseiling

~ Bouldering

Booking Information

You will need to bring with you the following equipment if you have it.

  • Clothes and Waterproofs to survive long days at a crag.
  • Climbing rack, helmet, harness, belay device, lockable carabiner, prussic loops, climbing shoes.
  • Food & Drinks.
  • Notebook & Pen or Camera/smartphone - good for taking notes and photos of ropework.

We can lend you all relevant equipment for free. Please let us know what you would like to borrow before the course. We will supply all ropes. It is normally best if you can bring your own climbing equipment to promote discussion and learning for everyone and to allow people to try out different gear before buying.

This course is suitable for anyone adult with an interest in teaching people rock climbing
