Go Canoeing Starter Session

Starter Sessions are an excellent introduction to canoeing

Outline

Come and try canoeing session infront of the hall in Shugborough Estate. Participants at the end of the session can be advised how to engage with the sport on a more regular basis.

Description

Participants will be required to arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of their session for a safety briefing and put on necessary specialist equipment. Actual time on the water will be approx. 45 minutes. Participants will be given the opportunity to explore the lake in front of Shugborough Hall under new management of the National Trust in either canoe or kayak. All sessions will be led by qualified instructors. The emphasis is on fun and no prior experience is required. Please note it takes approx. 20 minutes to walk to the hall from the car park. Entry charges to the estate apply in addition.

Booking Information

Consent and Medical Form need to be filled in prior to the event, we will have spares on the day for those who forget to bring them with them. A change of clothes for after the activity including footwear is advised. Suitable clothing to wear during the activity to include- jogging bottoms, t-shirt, jumper, suitable footwear (no wellies). Thought should be given to suitability of clothing in case they get wet, avoiding items that absorb a lot of water and become heavy. We will provide, helmet and personal floatation device. Happy to take children on the water without parents but parents must be there for the start and end of session as a minimum.

This course is suitable for anyone over the age of 8 years and families.
