The Role of the EY SENCO and Keyworker

Learn, develop or refresh your skills for the important role of EY SENCO, statutory requirements and best practice.

Outline

The course will look at the complex and challenging work of the EY Senco. Gain knowledge of the key points of the Code of Practice for SEND, explore OFSTED expectations, learn how best to support EY children with SEND and effective working with parents.

Description

Topics to be covered: Working with parents, assessing appropriateness of resources, staff deployment and room layout, Code of Practice/OFSTED key points, targeted planning, record keeping, other agencies and how they can help. Sharing ideas and reflecting on practice.

Outcomes

This course will enable you to:
~ gain an understanding of the role of the EY SENCO
~ be familiar with the requirements of the current SEND Code of Practice and OFSTED requirements.
~ have confidence in supporting staff in identifying and meeting the needs of children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities.
~ work effectively with other agencies and parents

This course is suitable for Early Years SENCOS and EY Practitioners (including managers, teachers, teaching assistants and childminders)
