Induction for New SENCo's

An introduction to the practical elements of the SENCO role.

Outline

This 1 day course will provide new or aspiring SENCO's with an overview of the role. The course covers the the statutory requirements, intervention planning and getting ready for Ofsted.

Description

The day will be divided into 3 main sections. Section 1 - An overview of the tasks a SENCO is responsible for, how to approach both the operational and strategic elements of the role and how to support staff. Section 2 - This looks in more detail at implementing the graduated response cycle and how to plan and track interventions. Section 3 - This section looks at the sort of information required for Ofsted. Throughout the day you will also have the opportunity to network with other new SENCO's and ask any questions you may have about the role of the SENCO.

Outcomes

This course will enable you to:

Develop an understanding of the statutory requirements of the SENCO role
Explore practical methods for managing workload and supporting staff
Develop your understanding of strategic leadership within SEN
Gain practical advice for planning and tracking interventions
An introduction to using data

Audience

This course is suitable for new SENCOs, SENCO assistants and aspiring SENCOs.
