Training for the role of a Link Governor

Providing Governors with the necessary skills to carry out their key Link Governor roles to monitor the progress and performance of the school.


Carrying out link Governor activities demonstrates the Governors' role in the strategic management of the school by helping to hold the school to account and evaluate its progress. This supports one of the key roles and responsibilities for the Governing Board in being able to effectively monitor the progress and performance of the school.


Aiming to provide a better understanding of the link Governor role and its impact in supporting school improvement, as well as improving Governor skills in sustaining core functions such as challenge and support. Together we will reflect on examples of good practice, including discussing the merits of various types of proformas for recording.


This course will enable you to:

~ Better evaluate the effectiveness of your school's general processes through the link Governor role.

~ Identify priority link Governor roles.

~ Gain increased confidence and awareness of how to effectively hold the school to account through challenge and support.

~ Identify and explore the benefits of the link Governor role.


Suitable for all Governors whether Maintained or Academy schools.
